REAL CUSTOMER REVIEWS

“Excellent work overall. My husband and I will use Sal again. Pre-work: Sal took time to understand our needs, was prompt, provided professional documentation and responses to questions and samples. He always turned up when he said he would. He was honest, realistic and really good at planning. He had great communication skills and kept us informed of progress. He organised all supplies to be onsite in time. Execution: He carried out high quality roofing work, was attentive to detail, and he offered innovative solutions to problems as they arose. Post-work: he provided a prompt and clear invoice, understood our additional requirements and suggested additional value-added services. Sal is probably the best pre-sales, project management and installation person we have ever met in the trades.”

Custom Flashing & Capping

Kangaroof have a unique way of designing box gutters and custom flashing which ensures our work is as it should be. We customise flashing for new roof extensions, replacement of worn lead flashing and custom capping for barge and fascia timber boards.

We also provide custom flashing for exisiting and new skylights such as the Velux sklight. Velux sklights all require custom flashing for a roof pitch below 15º.

We use only high quality steel from trusted Australian suppliers such as BlueScope Steel for this type of work. From measuring on site to designing and manufacturing your new custom flashing, you can be confident the results will be superb.

We are also well aware of which metals can be used together and which ones can’t. This is important as some metals when used together can cause accelerated corrosion called galvanic corrosion. Learn more about DISSIMILAR METALS.

Box Gutters

We see our fare share of dodgy box gutter designs and installs as box gutters can be tricky to get right. Kangaroof can help waterproof existing box gutters as well as designing and installing new box gutters.

Roof Valleys

We replace rusted roof valleys with a new valley made from BlueScope ColorBond Steel, which have a 20 year warranty. A roof valley affected by surface rust can be restored. After removing surrounding tiles for better access, we sand back the valley and apply a high quality rust converter. Finally, we coat the valley with high grade coating systems to protect it from the elements.

Flashing Repair

At times your existing roof flashing can be restored. If you have aging flashing/ chimney flashing/ roof vent flashing/ tile to metal roof flashing, we will assess and provide you with the best advice. If repairing the roof flashing is not an option, we will look at customising and installing new flashing.

ROOF FLASHING FAQ

It depends on what materials are being used – how many lineal meters are required and also what is the design (if a custom flashing is selected). When it comes to colour, this does not always matter – unless it is real cooper, stainless steel or any other colour which comes from genuine metals that are more costly.

There are many options when it comes to selecting roof flashing. The most common today are those made from plane zincalume flashing or powder coated steels such as Colorbond. This variety is generally a custom design.

Other options are the traditional lead flashing which is more costly and due to this, many opt for newer materials which tend not to last as long. Newer roof flashing materials are many. It is important to select one that will give you many years of protection. We’ve seen many that should not be used on buildings due to how quickly they deteriorate when constantly exposed to the sun.

We use high grade materials for our roof flashing so you’re in good hands with Kangaroof.

Roof flashing, such as lead flashing will start to split or crack as it ages. Once you notice this, you should consult a roof specialist to discuss possible restoration or replacement options to avoid moisture ingress into your roof.

Some types of roof flashing are long lasting and should be restored to extend their lifespan. With properly applied UV coating, roof flashing can last a very long time.

If the wrong type of metal roof flashing is installed, this can become detrimental to your roof and home. It is best that you deal with a roofing specialist that knows which metals are incompatible and inspects your whole roof to ensure any runoff will not affect the lower parts of your roof and gutters.
